BICYCLE STOP YIELDS METH AND 237 GRAMS OF POT – SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

12651369_1027950717263181_7879162482615910027_nMERCED, CA – The Merced Police Gang Violence Suppression Unit Officers made a traffic stop of Angel Zapien for failing to stop his bicycle at the stop sign at W. 18th and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. During the traffic stop, officers discovered that Zapien had an active misdemeanor warrant for being drunk in public and resisting a peace officer. Subsequent to arresting Zapien, officers searched Zapien and discovered him to be in possession of several bags of marijuana (273 grams) and a baggie of methamphetamine (1 gram). Subsequently, Zapien was released with a citation to appear in court on the warrant and drug violations.
