SUSPECT IN CARROWS BUILDING FIRE HAS BEEN ARRESTED

MERCED, CA – An arrest has been made in the Merced Carrows fire which occurred on February 8, 2016 in the 700 block of Motel Drive.

The suspect has been identified as, Jay Desmond Jackson who was arrested with the help of an anonymous description given to police. Jackson is believed to be a local homeless man.

The fire is estimated to have caused $1.5 million dollars in damage and no injuries were reported.

Merced County Sheriff’s arrest records indicate Mr. Jackson has been arrested since 2014 for multiple Burglaries and Controlled Substance arrests.
