ATWATER, CA – Atwater Police Officers were dispatched at approximately 8:00 p.m. yesterday evening to the area of Buhach and Juniper for  a report of several shots fired. The officers reported that they were unable to locate anything, but while checking the area officers were then dispatched to the Bobby’s Best Buy Liquor located at 1595 E Bellevue Road in Atwater.

A 32-year-old man from Turlock was identified as the targeted victim and he told officers that he was a gang drop-out and not banging for the last five years. He also said to officers that he was heading north on Buhach and was near Juniper when he saw an older model Ford Crown Victoria pull up next to him.

According to the victim, a Hispanic male adult made a statement using gang slang and it was at that time when he noticed the back window start to roll down, The victim stated that he suspected he was going to be assaulted before the shots rang out. The victim was able to escape the shooting uninjured.

Witnesses reported hearing one to seven shots fired from the vehicle and officers located a bullet that went through the driver’s side rear window and was lodged in the headrest of the victim’s vehicle.
