A CALL OF SHOTS FIRED LAST NIGHT LEADS OFFICERS TO VICTIM OF HIT-AND-RUN

MERCED, CA – At approximately  11:54 p.m. Friday night, officers with the  Merced PD received several calls regarding of a man down and possibly suffering from a gunshot wound in the area of 22nd and G Streets.  Officers located a male victim, approximately 55-years-old who had allegedly been struck by a vehicle after shots were fired. Officers on scene found a .45 caliber handgun at the scene.  It is believed the victim of the hit-and-run attempted to shoot at the driver of the vehicle that fled which witnesses describe as a white Chevy Cavalier

The male victim was transported to a nearby hospital for a fractured leg and head injury.
