MERCED COUNTY, CA – A 16-year-old Livingston High School student died last night at approximately 8:30 p.m., in the area of Walnut and Sultana Drive while riding his bike home with his 19-year-old brother. Raymond Martinez died of his injuries at the scene and the family is asking for anyone who may have seen anything last night to please call the Merced Area CHP.

“My brothers were riding home and using flashlights as reflectors,” said Ashley Martinez, Raymond’s 28-year-old sister in a phone interview with MCNTV News. “My older brother said that cars were passing them until suddenly he saw Raymond hit by a car. It was dark and all we know is that it was a compact possibly a Toyota car. I was told my brother was no longer with us and that he died at the scene. A few people stopped and we are still waiting for the investigators to speak to my brother who was there and saw everything happen.”

MCNTV News called the Merced Area CHP’s PIO and hope to hear back soon.

Raymond Martinez was a football player for Livingston High School and will be very much missed by his family, his church family and his community. He was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and we will update this story when the family has had time to make funeral arrangements.

“My family is doing as good as we can,” Ashley said when we asked how the family was doing. “Dad is having a really hard time right now.”

If you would like to help this family in their time of need, an account will be set-up soon.
