UPDATE: The second suspect, Bryan Green, is now in custody.
MERCED, CA – On 04/11/16, at approximately 12:30 PM Merced Police Department officers responded to the first of two armed robberies that took place within 15 minutes of each other. The first was at 235 W. Main Street, the K&K Oriental Market and the second was at 1846 E. Yosemite Pkwy, the U-Save Market. At both locations, the two suspects walked into the stores armed with handguns and demanded money from the clerks. At both robbery scenes the suspects fled with undisclosed amount of money and were seen by witnesses leaving in a white four door car.
When officers arrived on scene they quickly viewed surveillance footage and a gang unit officer was able to identify the suspects as Gregory Lowery, 33 years old, and Bryan Green, 27 years old. After approximately one hour there was another similar robbery in Winton Ca.
Merced police detectives were able to make positive ID’s of the suspects and Merced County Sheriff’s Deputies were also able make ID’s on the robbery that occurred in their jurisdiction. With the help of the Merced Area Gang and Narcotic Taskforce (MAGNET), the suspects were tracked down to an apartment complex in Sacramento Ca. On 04/13/16 at approximately 1230 hours, Lowery was stopped and arrested in a car that he had purchased the day of the robberies. He was brought back to Merced, interviewed and booked and the Merced County Jail on several felony charges.
Bryan Green is still outstanding and wanted on several serious felony charges and is considered armed and dangerous. The Detective Division is currently investigating the case and following up on leads and tips from the public.
