ATWATER, CA – Atwater Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of Juniper & Sierra Madre at approximately 6:04 p.m on April 15, 2016, for a report of a vehicle vs. bicyclist. Injuries were also reported and the vehicle left the scene. The suspects vehicle was described as a White Ford Explorer SUV. Witnesses were said to have followed the vehicle.
The suspects vehicle was later located on Reitz and Nutmeg . Deborah Allen, age 36, was said to be driving the vehicle and though she admitted to being at the scene she denied hitting the bicyclist. Officers also that her found that her three-year-old child did not have a car seat and was not in the child seat when she is alleged to have fled the scene.
The rider of the bike stated he was riding his bicycle heading westbound on the bike path when he crossed Sierra Madre. Suddenly the white SUV struck him and his bicycle knocking him to the ground. He further stated the SUV backed up and dragged his bicycle a small distance before fleeing at a high rate of speed.
Allen was booked on charges of felony hit and run and misdemeanor child endangerment.
