ATWATER, CA – At approximately 1:35 a.m. last night, officers with the Atwater Police Department were dispatched to the area of the 2600 block of Olive Avenue for a possible domestic dispute.
When officers arrived they discovered the people who were reportedly involved had left. Later n the evening, the victim called Atwater PD and reported that she had been forced into a vehicle. She identified the man who forced her into the vehicle as 28-year-old Nestor Castaneda. She also told authorities that d he kept her in the vehicle against her will for 10 to 15 minutes and the suspect reportedly told her that they were both going to die that evening. When the suspect and victim returned to the Olive address the victim was able to make her escape on foot and ran to her mother’s home which was nearby.
Atwater police made contact with the victim met with the victim and while taking her statement regarding the description of the suspects vehicle, the suspect drove past her and the officers.
The suspect was located int he vehicle at the intersection of Carter and Winton Way. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Merced County Jail for kidnapping and driving under the influence and is currently being held at the Merced County Jail on $104,608.00 bond.
