Event will focus on developing Merced’s Youth Council…
MERCED, CA – On April 21st, Building Healthy Communities Merced will host a road-mapping session between local city officials & staff, and experts from the California on youth leadership organizations. Recognizing the need to offer structure and support to Merced’s youth council, the session hopes to better strengthen the current Youth Council by collaborating, learning, and exploring best practices in youth development, youth-adult partnerships, and youth participation in civic decision-making.
The Merced youth council was established two years ago by the Merced City Council, but with very little foundation. It’s now clear that the youth council needs guidance, direction and clarity to help the youth council become all it can be to help the city council communicate and respond to youth needs effectively.*
The road-mapping session will be held in Sam Pipes Room at the Merced City Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday April 21st, 2016.
