MERCED COUNTY, CA – As the old saying goes “April showers bring may flowers” but they didn’t mention the falling trees. At approximately 3:00 p.m. yesterday, A large 3-foot diameter tree came crashing down casing damage to a trailer and a section of fence.
Witnesses said that the tree was actually struck by lightning before it came crashing down. In other parts of the city, some took to kayaks to wade across the pools of water gathered in the streets.
Merced will soon see temperatures back into the 80′ this week before another thunderstorm is predicted on Thursday of next week.
