MERCED COUNTY, CA – Merced County has reached agreement with one of its employee groups, and the terms of the new agreement are now in effect.
Merced County came to agreement with Teamsters Local 856, otherwise known as “Unit 2,” which is comprised of more than 70 Correctional Officers.
The terms of the new two-year agreement include a 7 percent wage increase over the term of the contract, catastrophic leave increase and a cap on the maximum health plan contribution by the County.
The agreement was ratified by the members of Teamsters Local 856 on April 18, 2016 and was ratified by the Merced County Board of Supervisors on April 26, 2016.
In the spirit of transparency, Merced County is now posting negotiations proposals along with Memorandums of Understanding on the “Human Resources” section of the County website. These proposals and MOUs can be located by visiting www.co.merced.ca.us/laborrelations.
Proposals for Unit 10 (Merced County Deputy Sheriff’s Association) and Unit 14 (Merced County Public Safety Services Unit) are posted on the labor relations page and are accessible by the public. Additionally, counter-proposals from both of these groups are available on the same page.
The County is also currently in negotiations with Unit 3 (Merced County Public Employees Union) and Unit 7 (Merced County Attorney’s Association).
