MERCED, CA – The Merced Police Department is sponsoring assemblies for 8th graders this week at the five middle schools (Weaver, Rivera, Cruickshank, Tenaya, and Hoover). The title of the assembly is “All for One” which talks to the students about making good decisions in life. The presentations bring up topics such as bullying, drugs, alcohol, and distracted driving.

Here is a picture of Rivera students helping the vendor, Dave Cornett from Motivational Media Assemblies, assemble and contruct the screens used in the assembly.

The other picture shows the huge screens and students watching the action of the presentation. This particular segment featured snippets from the movie Selma and discussed speaking out for what’s right and standing up for what’s right.

Funding for the assemblies is provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety.

For more information on the assemblies, contact Lance Eber at 209-385-4701 or eberl@cityofmerced.org
